Bonnie Lou Templeton, 73, of Irwin, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at her son’s home, probably still trying to clean something on her way out.
Born in Butler, PA, Bonnie had a life full of stories, laughter, hard work, and a heart big enough to fit a small town. She wore many hats in her time: certified nurse’s aide, in-home daycare provider, hospital housekeeper, and later, a proud worker at the North Huntingdon Thrift Store-where she likely gave away as much as she sold.
She and her late husband, Dennis Templeton, loved to ride their Harley Davidson and visit the beach. Bonnie was a foster parent to many and a mother to nine: Gretchen (Sam), Raymond (Marci), Doren, Roger (Jennifer), Mindy, Oliva (Ty), James (Christina), Breanna (Frank), and Chase. She also leaves behind a delightful chaos of grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom were taught the fine art of shopping and spent many hours laughing with her, usually at her expense.
Bonnie was the kind of woman who never met a stranger; she invited and welcomed anyone and everyone into her home. She especially loved her daughters-in-law and treated them like her own. Her house was the unofficial community center, daycare, therapy couch, and sometimes zoo. She accepted everyone with love, humor, and probably a mop in hand.
In honor of Bonnie, hug your people tighter, open your door a little wider, and if someone needs help-just do it. She’d want it that way. All services were held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001. WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM.
