Both Pennsylvania Senators have come out in opposition of the sale of U.S. Steel to the Japanese steel company, Nippon Steel.
Yesterday afternoon U.S. Senator John Fetterman released a video coming out against the nearly $15 billion deal. Saying it’s “outrageous that they have sold themselves to a foreign nation and a company.”
From the roof of his home in Braddock which overlooks the Edgar Thompson plant Fetterman claims the selling of U.S. Steel to a foreign nation can also raise questions of security.
Senator Bob Casey also came out in opposition to the sale calling it “a bad deal for Pennsylvania and for Pennsylvania workers.” Raising concerns on what the deal will mean for union steel workers.
Fetterman vowed to block the sale using his position and platform.
