Braves and A’s end playoff futility/Padres make baseball history

MLB Playoffs:
–The Atlanta Braves won their first playoff series since 2001 with a 5-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds Thursday. The victory snapped their record-tying string of losses in 10 consecutive postseason rounds. The Reds had starting pitchers allow just one run over 13 innings – but shutout in consecutive post-season games for the first time in their history.
–The Oakland Athletics ended 14 years of postseason futility with a 6-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox. The A’s won the series 2-1.
–San Diego evened their series with the St. Louis Cardinals following an 11-9 victory Thursday. Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Wil Myers each homered twice. The feat had only been accomplished once before in baseball history – by Yankee greats Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
They will play the deciding game tonight at 10:08pm in San Diego.
–The Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated the Milwaukee Brewers in two games with a 3-0 win last night.
–The Chicago Cubs-Miami Marlins game was rained out. The teams will play Game Two of their series today at 2:08pm. Miami leads the best-of-three series 1-0.
