The Milwaukee Brewers took two of three games in their three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. Left-handed pitcher Dillon Peters made his Pirates debut in the game. He allowed one earned run on five hits while pitching into the fifth inning. The Bucs managed just four hits, one of the hits a double by shortstop Kevin Newman.
Peters was purchased from the Los Angeles Angels back in June. The 29-year old was the 55th player used by the Pirates, which ties the franchise record for most used in a season.
Newman had five doubles in two games over the weekend, including four in the first game of doubleheader Saturday. Newman tied a major league record in leading the Bucs to a 14-4 victory and snapping an eight-game losing streak. The Pirates went on to lose the second game 6-0.
The Friday night game between the Bucs and Brewers was rained out.
The Pirates are in Los Angeles tonight to begin a three-game series with the Dodgers. First pitch is 10:10pm. Pre-game begins at 9:45pm on WISR 680am. Steven Brault will start for the Bucs.
