Legendary wrestler Bruno Sammartino of Pittsburgh has passed away at the age of 82. Bruno became known as “The Living Legend” during his wrestling career, which started during the days of studio wrestling in his hometown. He became the World Wide Wrestling Federation champion in 1963 and held the belt for eight years, which still remains a record. He would regain the title in the 1970’s for another run from 1973 to 1977. The second championship reign mainly came to an end after Bruno suffered a broken neck
Bruno’s family settled in Pittsburgh after WWII after fleeing Italy. He began his wrestling career in Pittsburgh in 1959.
