A pair of projects in the area are receiving significant funding to help improve two different trails.
Governor Tom Wolf announced Buffalo Township had been selected to receive $750,000 to help stabilize the stream bank and improve safety at the edge of the Butler-Freeport Community Trail. The funding will also remove the gravel bar in the Little Buffalo Creek.
The governor also announced $2 million in funding to rehabilitate the Brady Tunnel, an abandoned railroad tunnel just outside of East Brady. This project will close one of the largest gaps on the Armstrong Trail along the old railroad bed. Construction work will include a steel tunnel liner and drainage system.
The funding comes through the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that passed earlier this year.
