Bugling season for elk in northern Pennsylvania is quickly approaching and the state game commission is again giving the public a chance to watch the animals in their environment.
Residents can live stream the video of state game lands in rural Elk County through the commission’s website which provides quality picture and sound of the elk.
The mating call of an elk is called a bugle, and it’s so loud that if a human is too close to the elk when it sounds, it could damage hearing. The live stream will continue through the end of bugling season sometime in mid-October.
The Commission recommends especially tuning in late in the afternoons. In addition to elk, the live feed is expected to capture other wildlife such as turkeys and deer. Those who choose to visit elk country in person are advised to never feed or name the elk.
