Butler and Mars Soccer teams win WPIAL playoff matches

WPIAL Playoffs:

–The Butler Girls Soccer team defeated Upper St. Clair 4-0 last night in the 4A quarterfinals. Chloe Weiland led the Golden Tornado with two goals. Butler improved to 10-1 and will host 9-3-2 Moon Monday in the semifinals. The match begins at 6:30pm at Art Bernardi Stadium.
–Seneca Valley fell to Peters Township 1-0 in another quarterfinal match.
–The Mars Girls remain undefeated following a 6-0 victory over Oakland Catholic. The Planets are now 13-0 and will host Montour next Wednesday.
–The North Catholic Boys were eliminated by Mount Pleasant 1-0 in the 2A quarterfinals last night.
–The Butler Boys will visit Seneca Valley Saturday in the 4A quarterfinals. The match begins at noon.
–Saturday in the 2A Girls quarterfinals – North Catholic will face Burrell at Mars High School beginning at noon.
Girls Volleyball:
–Mars defeated Hopewell 3-0 to open the 3A playoffs. The Planets will host Beaver Monday night at 7pm.
–Freeport lost to Laurel Highlands 3-1.
–North Catholic defeated Neshannock 3-0. The Lady Trojans will host Shenango Monday in the 2A quarterfinals.
Saturday – The Seneca Valley Girls will travel to North Allegheny in a 4A quarterfinal match beginning at noon.
–Pine-Richland will travel to Oakland Catholic also at noon.
The Knoch Girls Tennis team will face Scranton Prep Saturday in the PIAA 2A semifinals. The match will be played at the Hershey Racquet Club beginning at 10am.
