An update to the stadium lights will soon be coming to Butler Senior High School.
At Monday night’s Butler School Board meeting, they approved a $235,000 project to replace the lights at Art Bernardi Stadium.
“The biggest piece in that is the switch to incandescent light to LED so there’s enormous energy savings with it,” Superintendent Dr. Brian White said.
The lights are likely to be installed over the summer so spring sports are not impacted.
White also said the school board highlighted a number of projects they listed as a priority in the future.
“There’s about $15.9 million in capital needs identified, excluding air conditioning,” White said. “Of that, $5.4 million worth of projects was prioritized to actually get drawings done, get grants for, or get something to the bid stage.”
White says the district has the capital funds, but all pricing is just estimates at this point. For a project to move forward, it needs board approval.
