The Butler Area School District has finalized a contract with a private company to find consistent replacements for employees who call off.
Beginning July 1, Educational Staffing Solutions will provide substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries and custodians. ESS will recruit, screen, train, hire, place and manage all applicants.
All current Butler subs will have the opportunity to continue working in Butler Schools but as employees of ESS. Butler will still control the rate of what subs are paid which was increased this year to $100 a day.
The Butler School Board approved this agreement in March and chose ESS as a result of a large number of subs already in network, a live call center, guest teacher training monthly on-site, a recruiter/manager that will be based in the district, and some health care coverage which the district does not currently provide to subs.
Butler will be the 93rd district in Pennsylvania to be serviced by ESS but the first in Butler County.
