An offer has been made for Oakland Township Elementary School and the Butler School Board is expected to vote on that offer in a meeting Wednesday.
According to District Solicitor Tom King, the board is expected to ratify an agreement to sell the former school to Robert Oesterling for $200,000. Oesterling is a Summit Township resident and owner of Kingdom Vapor Wholesale in Clarion. If sold, he is expected to use the property as a warehouse facility.
If a majority of the school board approves the sale, a hearing will be held before a Butler County judge later this month, per law. Any other prospective buyers would have the opportunity to make bids on the property during that hearing. King says there have been additional calls from people with interest in the facility.
The board previously had an agreement to sell the school to local businessman Monty Edgar, who owns the Woodbine Oaks Trailer Park next door for $360,000. However, that agreement was voided by the board last month because of a clause in the contract that stated the district could pull out if they spent more than $10,000 to address any issues. It was discovered there were water issues at the school and the district spent money in an attempt to correct those problems.
