The City of Butler is continuing with the process of seeking assistance from a state agency to improve efficiency and learn more about funding opportunities.
City Council passed a motion at their meeting last week to accept a proposal from the Pennsylvania Economy League in the amount of nearly $64,000 as part of preparation for a five year Financial Management Plan.
This agreement is contingent on the state Department of Community and Economic Development approving the City’s request for grant funding in order to participate in the Strategic Management Planning Program. At least one other provider of this service was considered but council selected this company for reasons that include experience and direct information sharing.
Under this program, DCED representatives would come to Butler in order to educate officials and employees about areas in need of attention as well as opportunities for grants. If approved, the city would pay $10,000 to receive this guidance with the rest being covered by grants or assistance from the County or the County’s Community Development Corporation.
