Butler City Council is advancing a plan to establish an Architectural and Historic District within the city.
Thursday night Council unanimously voted to approve a resolution declaring their intent to create the district.
The next step of this process will involve the County Planning Commission reviewing the proposal and giving an opinion to council.
The exact language of the ordinance to preserve homes in the Ritts Park neighborhood is still being determined but there will be many opportunities for public feedback to be expressed as the project moves forward.
