Butler City Police officers, along with PA State Police officers, and the PA State Attorney General’s office were on site to greet Officer Michael Sulerud Wednesday afternoon after he was released from the hospital.
Officer Sulerud was released from UPMC and was driven to meet nearly 50 members of local law enforcement agencies near the Cranberry Twp. Municipal Building. He was being cared for at UPMC after being stabbed multiple times in a downtown Butler altercation 10 days ago.
Sulerud got out of his vehicle and was able to hug many of those in attendance. The Butler Township Police and PA State Police covered the city of Butler while city officers were in Cranberry. Other departments represented include: Adams, Buffalo, Butler, and Cranberry Townships as well as Zelienople and Mars Boroughs, also Butler County Sheriff’s officers and those from the Butler County ESU.
A press release from Butler City Police Chief Bob O’Neil stated:
