Heavy and persistent flooding has made for a very busy Friday so far, for first responders in Butler County.
The rain started Thursday evening and continued through Friday late morning, flooding several roads and basements.
A Flood Warning- which means flooding is imminent or occurring- expired at 2:30 p.m. Friday. A Flood Watch- which means flooding is possible- continues through 6 p.m. Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, between 1 and 2 inches of rain has already fallen in the county. And, according to meteorologists, just because the rain stops doesn’t mean there are no longer flooding concerns. Continued runoff keeps the concern alive.
Any rain still left on the roads overnight will freeze as temperatures are expected to fall into the teens.

UPDATE (11AM Friday):
Several Butler County roads are still closed due to flooding.
According to PennDOT’s last update:
-Route 38 is closed between Route 68 in Summit Township and Mahood Road in Oakland Township
– Renfrew Road is closed between Three Degree Road and Hicks Road in Penn Township
-Herman Road is closed between Stutz Road and Simon Drive in Summit Township
-Yellow Creek Road is closed between Little Creek Road and East Lancaster Road in Lancaster Township
Several other township-owned roads and smaller roads were also restricted due to flooding.
