Today is the last day of employment for the longtime Director of Butler County’s Human Services department.
Joyce Ainsworth has worked for the county for 30 years but realized now is the time for her to move on and spend more time with her family.
“I’ve done enough and it’s time to move on,” Ainsworth said. “I have a granddaughter who’s getting older and two elderly parents who I really want to spend time with.”
The department covers all aspects of human service- including mental health, intellectual disabilities and early intervention. Ainsworth is proud of the impact she has made in helping people work together even as she has seen new challenges for local families through the years such as the opioid epidemic.
Replacing Ainsworth as director is Brandon Savochka. He has been with the county since 2013 and has been working with Ainsworth for most of the last month to ensure a smooth transition. She credits the job done by her co-workers for providing assistance that sometimes don’t get much attention.
“The folks that work in this field are saints, because they keep going when sometimes it seems like nothing ever changes. But it does, and the impact of what we do matters and it does help,” Ainsworth said.
Ainsworth started out as a mental health specialist in the late 1980s and rose through the ranks before being named Butler County’s Human Services Director in 2014.
