Butler Township plans to enter into an agreement with Butler County to manage the township-owned Dek Hockey facility.
The agreement with Butler County Parks and Recreation Department comes after over a year of informal conversations between administrators.
For the past several years, the township has competitively bid to find a facility manager with a small portion of rental fees and booking proceeds returned to the township. However, this revenue is less than what Butler Township pays in utilities and maintenance for the facility. Under the new arrangement, the county would receive 100 percent of the revenue but also pay for expenses. The county could also choose to increase the size or contribute to other improvements at the facility.
The Butler County commissioners will need to approve this agreement before it is finalized but the deal is expected to take effect on January 1, 2018.
