Butler is no longer a “sanctuary county” for illegal immigrants after a vote yesterday by the county’s prison board.
According to our news partners at WPXI, the vote was unanimous among the board.
Newly elected state representative Stephenie Scialabba of Cranberry was the one to bring the policy to the county’s prison board.
The policy previously said Butler was a sanctuary county because it had written policies not to honor detainer requests from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.
The prison board will now have to write a new policy manual.
