Butler County has approved a new land bank that will go under the direction of the county’s Redevelopment Authority.
County commissioners voted unanimously to establish the program that they say will act as another tool to help address urban blight and other properties that are currently on the county’s repository.
Officials say the authority will potentially be able to help find prospective buyers to get properties back onto the county’s tax roll.
County commissioners also say that delegating this to the Redevelopment Authority will take the hassle out of the tax claims office, which previously were responsible for fielding questions about the properties.
