A local car dealer took time yesterday to honor healthcare workers with a “Warrior Quilt.”
Butler County Ford donated the quilt to the Allegheny Health Network’s Cancer Institute in Butler.
Company president Cathy Glasgow describes the process.
“The decorated squares are collected and given to talented and dedicated volunteers who combine them into the Warrior Quilts,” Glasgow said. “The quilts are then presented to deserving cancer treatment centers throughout Neighborhood Ford Store’s four state footprint.”
Glasgow also said they picked AHN’s Cancer Institute to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Oncologist Dr. Neena Pathe took time to remind people yesterday to get their annual mammogram.
“If you have not had a mammogram this year due to the pandemic, please make sure that you get in your appointment and spread the message to loved ones that mammograms detect breast cancer at the very early stage,” Pathe said.
The “Warrior Quilt” was made with fabric squares sent in by mail or decorated throughout the year.
