Would you like to plant a backyard garden, but don’t have the space to do it?
The annual plowing of the Butler County gardens near Sunnyview will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 9.
The Western Pennsylvania Garden Tractor Association will cultivate the fields, which are located behind the county 9-1-1 center on McCune Lane.
According to a news release, due to the current pandemic, individuals will need to follow social distancing guidelines during the days plowing and gardening occurs.
You can request a garden plot by contacting Jennifer McIntire at the Penn State Extension office by May 15, 2020 at 724-287-4761 (ext. 1) or email jzm1159@psu.edu. With your request, you’ll need to give a full name, phone number, and garden plot number.
Vacant plots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The rain dates for plowing will be May 16 and May 23.
