A local organization has received recognition for efforts to educate and preserve Butler’s rich heritage.
The Butler County Historical Society was honored with the 15th annual Butler County Chamber of Commerce Community Champion Award at a luncheon Wednesday in Diamond Park.
The luncheon began at 11:30 a.m. under a tent in Diamond Square and was followed by a summer concert by the Butler County Symphony.
The Butler County Historical Society was established as an active organization in 1960. They currently own five properties, consisting of 11 buildings and thousands of artifacts. They were also responsible for the Butler Brush Up event held last year.
