Butler County will be undergoing a test to check the vulnerability of their online network.
Commissioners approved the penetration assessment that will see a group do a live intrusion of the county’s network to see how it reacts.
According to IT officials with the county, it’s been seven years since the last assessment. They cited that the test should be done every couple of years.
The test will cost the county around $36,000. However, commissioners noted that a ransom attack would cost the county thousands more if they were targeted.
