The biggest event of the year to highlight agriculture in Butler County is back this week.
Organizer Ken Metrick says this is the 69th year for the Butler Farm Show. The event began back in the 1940s as a plowing contest and has grown into a 7-day festival complete with carnival rides, performances and fair food.
Terry Cranmer has also been helping organize the farm show for years. He says it’s now more important than ever to educate residents where their food comes from.
The event is held at the Butler Farm Show grounds on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. Gates open daily at 8:30 a.m. and remain open through 11 p.m. Admission is $7 on Monday and $8 the rest of the week.
