Butler City Firefighters will receive some professional development training through a couple of upcoming programs.
At their meeting last week, City Council approved spending a total of nearly $4,000 on a couple of presentations to help instruct firefighters in different areas.
The first Professional Standards training on January 6th will be led by Chief Darryl Jones through R. L. Sligh Limited Consultants. Topics to be covered include leadership, team function, crew resource management, and handling difficult conversations.
Then on February 1st and 2nd, retired Fire Chief John Senft will also provide Professional Standards Training with a focus on organizational change, managing conflict, and ethics.
Councilman Larry Christy is responsible for Public Safety and the Bureau of Fire.
“I have worked with Chief Senft for over 30 years. We have served on various boards and task forces across the state of Pennsylvania. Chief Senft is an instructor in the National Fire Academy and is very well versed in fire services,” Christy said.
All training will be based on national fire academy courses that both instructors teach regularly.
