The Butler Girl’s Track & Field team had an impressive WPIAL Class Triple-A Section-3 opener Wednesday. The Golden Tornado swept North Hills 129-21 and Fox Chapel 116-31.
Butler Junior Megan Baggetta broke the school record in the Triple Jump. Baggetta’s leap of 38’-5 1/2” topped the record of Leatha Dudek mark of 38’-2 1/2” set in1987.
The Butler girls had more than a dozen victories and swept three relays.
Emma Lehman won the 100 Hurdles and the 300 Hurdles. Jen Cichra won the 1600 while Ava Brewster won the 3200. Butler swept the Relays – 4×100, 4×400, 4×800. Ashlyn Holt won the Pole Vault while Aubrey Rock won the Long Jump. In the throws Megan Penrod won the Javelin, Carli Baker the Discus and Abby Kitchen the Shot Put. Wrapping up the first place finishes was Katie Ban in the High Jump, Alli Morrow in the 100 and Krislyn Green in the 400.
The Golden Tornado host Pine Richland on Monday at the Butler High Stadium.
