The Butler boys’ basketball team defeated Mt. Lebanon in the WPIAL class 6A championship on Saturday night, winning by a final of 70-61.
Ethan Morton finished the game with 20 points, and Devin Carney finished with 24 points. Saturday’s championship, which was held at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, was a rematch of last year’s championship. The win gives Butler their first WPIAL title in boys’ basketball in nearly 30 years.
The Golden Tornado will move onto the PIAA state playoffs. A date, site, and opponent for their first game will be announced at a later time.
