The Butler High School Girls Bowling team won the WPIBL Championship Thursday at Family Bowlaway in Butler. Butler topped second place Plum by 355 pins after three games of qualifying. Butler then defeated Burrell 2-0 in the championship roll-off. (Burrell defeated Plum 2-0 in the semifinals.)
Mercedes Belch led Butler with a 600 series, with a high game of 248. Nicole Nebel rolled a 587 series with a high game of 209. Jordyn Graham added a 573 series with a high game of 212. Abby Kyle had a high game of 222.
Eight Butler bowlers compete in the WPIBL Singles Championships next week, and both Butler boys and girls teams will compete in the Pa Western Regional Championships March 10th in Pittsburgh.
