It was a beautiful evening on Thursday when 495 Butler High School graduates closed one chapter, and began another.
The school’s 129th commencement ceremony took place outside at Art Bernardi Stadium on the senior high school campus. Valedictorian and class president Sophia Lex led the class in shifting their tassels from the right to left side, signaling the end of an era in the students’ lives.
Spectators packed the stands to watch the ceremony take place.
There were several speakers- including various students and members of the administration. Superintendent Brian White noted that the ceremony fell on the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Several students stood up to be recognized as enlisting in the armed forces.
