The secondary schools in the Butler Area School District and Armstrong School District went in to lockdowns this morning following similar threats across Pennsylvania.
In a statement from Superintendent Dr. Brian White he said “that the threat we received has been reported across multiple school districts over multiple counties in Pennsylvania over the past few days.”
Armstrong School District went on lockdown this morning as well but after police deemed the threat non-credible the lockdown was lifted.
The threats were made to Butler Intermediate and High Schools and Armstrong Junior-Senior High School. At no point were threats made to any elementary schools.
There will be an increase presence of police at both school districts today and dismissal will happen as regularly scheduled.
There were also online rumors of Butler Memorial Hospital being on a lockdown as well, but a hospital spokesperson says that is not the case.
