The Butler Area Public Library is inviting members of the local community to a unique experience later this week.
As part of “Un Libro, Un Butler!” a performance titled “Tales from the Dance Floor: the Hidden History of Western Hemisphere Partner Dances” is planned for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Butler Little Theater.
Owners of a Pittsburgh dance studio will lead attendees on an exploration of the deep and complex roots of various dances that have been influenced by colonization, subjugation, and enslavement as well as joy, resistance, religion, history, competition, and escape.
In addition to the talk, the evening will include demonstrations as well as brief performances. There is no cost to attend this activity. Visit the website of the Butler Area Public Library for more information.
