Our local library is not just a place with a lot of books. Thanks to a partnership with BC3, it’s also a place for lectures and lifelong learning.
Peter Bess, the Assistant Director of the Butler Area Public Library, said the facility has partnered with Butler County Community College to promote their Lifelong Learning Program.
A free lecture is scheduled for Tues, Feb. 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“We’re going to have a talk about the ancient Mayan civilization and Native Americans of the Southwest,” Bess said.
The second lecture in this series will be presented on Thursday, March 8 and focus on the art of calligraphy. Registration is requested for both programs and can be made by calling, emailing or visiting the library.
Later in March, a local author and historian will be at the library for a book signing with a question and answer session.
“That event will be on Wed., March 14 at 6 p.m. with local author Melanie Lynn Gutowski. She will be discussing her book Pittsburgh’s Mansions,” Bess said.
Finally, the library’s quilt raffle is going on now with proceeds supporting the Genealogy and Special Collections Department. One ticket can be purchased for $5 and $20 will purchase five tickets, with a winner drawn on April 14.
