A Butler man has entered guilty pleas to federal gun charges connected with his role as a firearms dealer.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 61-year-old Grant Williams admitted to failing to make required entries for his gun sales at Sportsman’s Supply as required by law.
In April of last year the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives tried to trace a firearm sold by Williams that had been used in a crime. When Williams’ records did not show that information, an audit revealed over 2,600 such omissions including for a large number of sales conducted online through the website GunBroker.com.
Williams could face up to five years in prison, a fine of up to a half million dollars, or both.
