A Butler man has been sentenced for his role in stealing a large amount of money from a local electric company.
According to the Department of Justice, 64-year-old Paul Harmon will be imprisoned for six years followed by three years of supervised release after entering a guilty plea to one count of wire fraud.
Harmon was the controller for Fuellgraf Electric Company in Butler for more than 40 years, during which he oversaw the organization’s finances.
Prosecutors say between at least October 2009 until he was fired in December 2018, Harmon misappropriated about $1.5 million.
Department of Justice officials say that Harmon concealed these actions by creating hundreds of false entries in the Fuellgraf books and records that “masked the true nature and purpose of their expenditures”.
He also must pay restitution of nearly $1.5 million to Fuellgraf.
