Butler County native Marc Fogel has been released from a Russian prison after three and a half years.
The teacher from Oakmont was released as part of an exchange Tuesday afternoon and was reunited with family later that night.
Fogel was seen in the White House meeting with President Donald Trump and reporters.
Officials say an unnamed Russian citizen was also released but the name of that person will be announced in the coming days.
Fogel was detained by Russian authorities in August 2021 after being found in an airport with medical marijuana.
He was then sentenced to 14 years in prison in June 2022 and was formally designated as “wrongfully detained” by the U.S. State Department late last year.
