Butler’s Neighborhood Drug Watch is making a difference through email tips to law enforcement, according to Butler City Police Lieutenant Chad Rensel.
During a meeting Wednesday night inside the Butler Public Safety Building, Rensel shared multiple stories of tips that have led to investigations and even drug busts since this group was formed in January.
“At this point, I think it’s been a success and I hope we keep it up,” Rensel said. “I hope that the activity increases actually. What we’re asking for from these tips is for you to give us just enough of a foundation for us to then build our investigation.”
Butler City Police can be reached at [email protected] and they work closely with the Butler County Drug Task Force, which can be reached at 1-866-363-3784.
Rensel encouraged city residents to contact law enforcement whenever they see suspicious activity and to provide as much detailed information as possible to assist investigators.
Thanks to a $1,000 donation from the Butler Elks Lodge, anyone purchasing a Neighborhood Drug Watch yard or street sign can receive another at no charge.
The next meeting of the Butler City Neighborhood Drug Watch is May 30.
