The Butler School District will offer full-day kindergarten beginning this fall.
The school board voted unanimously to approve the move at Monday’s meeting.
Butler’s superintendent proposed switching from half-day to full-day kindergarten during April’s meeting, citing research showing that a full-day program leads to better reading skills that go on to benefit students throughout their education.
Butler won’t be the only district in the county to offer a full-day program. Freeport, Slippery Rock and Karns City school districts already offer full-day kindergarten.
