The cause of a power outage at Butler Senior High School the first day students returned has been addressed with the replacement of a piece of equipment.
Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White informed the school board Monday night that the overloading transformer was replaced Monday morning with one capable of handling the power draw of the facility.
West Penn Power found a new transformer at a price of approximately $39,000 that is able to direct five times as much power as the previous one was able to accommodate.
West Penn crews arrived at the Senior High around 8 a.m. Monday and were able to accomplish the job in about five hours without disruption.
