The annual Butler Road Race makes its return to downtown Saturday morning.
Hundreds of runners are expected to hit the streets for the 47th edition of the race.
Of course, that means some traffic restrictions for the morning. All of Main Street will be shut down from Wayne Street through East Fulton. City police say the usual detours will be in place to get drivers to Route 8 North.
All of West Penn Street will also be shut down to the City limits.
The closures are expected to be in place from 8-11:30 a.m.
There’s also no change in the traditional route for runners, which means the Penn Street bridge will be open for the runners.
“We’ve been in close contact with Thomas Construction who is overseeing the Sullivan Run Project and they are opening up and monitoring the closed road portion for participants only,” YMCA Development Director Christina Dreher said.
So the five mile runners will start in Diamond Park, head down Main Street, turn onto West Penn, and will run down and loop back at the bottom of Alameda Park.
