There were no surprises in the unofficial results of yesterday’s primary election for Butler Township Commissioner, Butler School Board, and Butler City Council.
Preliminary returns have incumbents James Lokhaiser Jr, Joseph Wiest, and Dave Zarnick with enough votes to appear on the fall ballot along with challenger David Rice who registered as a Republican.
On the Butler Area School Board, incumbents Jennifer Cummings and Jennifer Daniels-Wells will appear on the fall ballot. Republican Cecilia Tomko along with the cross-filing Phil Heasley and Terry Stivason will also challenge for one of five total openings this fall. Incumbent Mary Waggoner will not run for another term.
Finally, Butler City Councilman Daniel Herr will run for his first full term appearing as a Democrat on the fall ballot after being appointed to a partial term in February of last year. The term of Councilman Fred Reese is also up at the end of this year after he was appointed in April of last year but it is not yet clear if he or anyone else received enough write-in votes to appear on the fall ballot.
