The Butler School Board continues to devote some meeting time to improve engagement with community members while also learning more about the activities of each school facility.
The second of two February meetings was held at McQuistion Elementary School Monday night so that board members could get a closer look at programs at the STEAM Immersion school.
Principal Theresa Cherry spoke to board members about her first several months in the position after spending the previous four years at Center Township Elementary.
Progress has been made during that time to improve attendance with an emphasis on positive support leading to a sharp decrease in discipline referrals from last year.
Year one of a three year plan has included quarterly interactive experiences such as a science fair as well as an emphasis on growth.
