The Butler School Board is devoting some meeting time to improve engagement with community members while also learning more about the activities of community elementary schools.
The second of two September meetings was held at Summit Elementary School Monday night so that board members could hear about the school’s agricultural education program.
Administrators, teachers, and members of the Summit’s Community Agricultural Partnership advisory committee spoke to board members about how efforts are progressing three years into the process. Students are actively composting and working with gardens and could soon have the chance to experience a greenhouse and a nature trail.
Principal Chad Broman also explained how Summit piloted an Electronic Absence Excuse form program last year before it was expanded to all elementary schools this year.
The district asked residents for feedback about how artificial intelligence should be utilized and how the foundations for essential high school skills can be established for elementary kids.
