A newly unveiled strategic framework draft of beliefs, mission, objectives and strategies will help guide the future of the Butler Area School District.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White invited 52 students, parents, school board members, administrators, faculty and staff to help develop the district’s strategic plan for the next five years. The group met for two days earlier this month at the Butler Township Park Building.
White says friendly and passionate discussion has resulted in the creation of a mission statement, as well as measurable and observable ways to fulfill the objectives of that statement. In order to realize these goals, White believes there could be big changes in store for the future.
“I think that we have some big decisions ahead of us and bold things that we have to do to re-prioritize,” White said. “We’re going to have to make a significant commitment to professional development in the district, which is time and money. But, we also have to deal with the reality of what our constituents and folks say about how our schools are organized and the capacities within those schools.”
An action team will now be formed for each strategy and they will meet in January to discuss what activities need to take place in order to make the strategies into a reality.
