After a difficult year in many areas for Butler Area School District, the board has decided to keep their food service provider for at least one more year.
At their meeting earlier this week, the board approved a request for emergency extension through the Pennsylvania Department of Education to keep The Nutrition Group as food service provider.
The original five year contract agreed to with The Nutrition Group was set to expire at the end of the current school year but the state has recognized that this might not be the best time to be switching providers so the one year extension option have been permitted.
No changes have been made to the agreement in place for next year. The Nutrition Group has been an important partner for the district as many changes have been necessary over the past year to provide meals to students at home or in locations different from traditional cafeterias.
