The Butler Area School District is taking some time to recognize and honor some very special and hard-working employees today.
To mark the occasion of 200,000 meals produced for students since schools were closed March 17th, school administrators and the district’s food service contractor The Nutrition Group are celebrating about 40 food service employees.
The Butler County Commissioners are expected to issue a proclamation at a ceremony at 10 a.m. in the Senior High School cafeteria. These workers have been serving a total of 4,000 meals per day to approximately 2,000 students within the district. 24 school police are also involved in this effort as they travel about 250 miles each day delivering the meals to families in need.
A representative from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will also attend Wednesday’s gathering to present a plaque to Emily Brittain Community Partnership and Demonstration School for increasing participation in the school breakfast program by 17% over one year from 2018 to 2019. This was the largest increase of any school in Butler County.
