Butler Area School District faculty, staff, and administrators have started the process of moving into newly remodeled space at the Senior High School.
According to Superintendent Dr. Brian White, crews are finishing the project to switch the location of the Senior High Main Office with the Senior High Library as well as enclose the walkway from the cafeteria to the auditorium.
“This is now how everyone comes in. It’s a secure entrance with a metal detector and the security portal, where they can buzz you into the building if you’re a student, parent, or visitor,” White said. “This is the image of the school we want people to have. It makes a good first impression.”
“Also, people cannot wander into the building anymore. You used to be where people came into the cafeteria, and had access to all the kids,” White added.
This project cost just over $2 million for a general contractor as well as HVAC, electric, and plumbing. The money to pay for this project came from the district’s capital projects bond issue.
