The Butler Area School District is moving ahead with starting preliminary design work on an expansion of, or addition to, the Senior High School.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White explained to the school board members Monday night about the advantages of starting to prepare for the project now including the fact that grades 9 through 12 would need to be accommodated no matter what reorganization plan is chosen.
After the board gave approval to move forward, White said that he plans to create a team of teachers and administrators to discuss specific needs and how to best utilize space. White also will contact the district’s architectural contractor, IKM to arrange for them to begin using that feedback to provide planning options.
The district has not made any definitive decisions about school reorganization which was a much-discussed topic last fall and winter before COVID-19 resulted in many changes to district priorities.
