After bringing attention to growing concerns about behavioral issues at the Butler Senior High School, the district superintendent is laying out plans to address the problem.
In an email to parents, Dr. Brian White says that the school will continue to notify police of criminal behavior and punish students with suspension. The email comes after numerous fights have broken out at the Senior High School this year, which added 9th graders to the building.
White also says that the district is establishing its own intervention center intended for students who are expelled. It will take place at the Senior High after school.
The district is also increasing compensation for teachers to supervise hallways during their breaks and at lunch. They are also seeking help as lunchroom supervisors.
White says that a number of incidents are happening inside bathrooms so the district is revising the design of bathrooms to make them all individual stalls. He adds this plan will not be tackled immediately.
