The Butler Transit Authority is applying for a federal grant to study transit needs in the Slippery Rock Township area.
The Federal Transit Administration is offering HOPE grants which stands for Helping Obtain Prosperity for Everyone.
The Authority is requesting $156,000 to be used for a subcontractor to do the study which would include service to Slippery Rock University. There is no cost to the Authority to apply for this grant over and above the salary already paid to the consultant and Authority’s grant writer.
Grant applications are due later this month but the timeline for hearing back about the money award is not known at this time.
