The Butler Transit Authority is welcoming their first new member not from the City of Butler or Butler Township.
Chris Rearick was recently appointed to a five year term on BTA by Butler County. Butler Township and Butler City formed the Authority in 1989 but the county assumed control in early 2018.
One of the reasons why the County took over the authority is to expand local public transportation options beyond the center of the county. According to Authority Executive Director John Paul, Rearick is a perfect fit for this expanded mission.
“We were looking for somebody who was on the Route 68 corridor for the commuter service so we could get some input from someone that region,” Paul said. “Chris’s name came up and the authority has had great cooperation with Jackson Township. It was a natural fit.”
Rearick is currently the manager of Jackson Township and has held that position for the past nine years. BTA’s Route 528 Park and Ride facility is located in Jackson Township.
